The Spacetalk Reach App should be downloaded onto your child's smartphone. On your own phone, you will need to download the Spacetalk app to pair with your child's Reach App.
The Reach App is available for download from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store. Other platforms are currently not supported. Search for Spacetalk Reach App in either store.
On the parent's phone, open the Spacetalk app and create an account or log in. Press Home, "Add Device" and select Reach App. Follow the prompts to create a profile for the family member who will be using the Spacetalk Reach App and create a pairing link. Send this link to the family member’s phone via SMS or other messaging service.
On the child's phone, tap on the pairing link received from the Spacetalk App. If the Spacetalk Reach App is already installed on the family member’s phone, it will open automatically, and the pairing process will commence. If the Spacetalk Reach App is not installed on the phone at the time the link is pressed, the following will occur.
In order to pair, you will need to ensure that the parent's phone has installed the "Spacetalk" app and the app is updated to version 5.3.6 or higher on iOS and 5.6.15 or higher on Android. The child's phone will need to have installed the Spacetalk Reach App, version 1.1.0 or higher for both iOS. Both phones will need to have a mobile network connection.
To reset the Spacetalk Reach App, simply uninstall and reinstall the app on the child's phone.
In order to successfully update location, the Spacetalk app and Spacetalk Reach App need to have location services set to "Always Allow" in the phone settings. This can usually be found in the "Permissions" section of the phone settings. The phones that the apps are installed on will need to be turned on and have a mobile network connection.

As long as the child's phone is turned on and connected to a mobile network, Spacetalk Reach App can send location updates to the parent's Spacetalk App.
When location services are enabled for the Spacetalk Reach App on the child's phone, the Spacetalk Reach App will use the phone's native location services to obtain a location and send it to the Spacetalk app on the parent's phone. The minimum interval at which the Spacetalk Reach App will send location updates can be adjusted in the Spacetalk App. By default, this minimum interval is 15 minutes. The actual frequency of the location updates received from the Spacetalk Reach App may be longer than this depending on the usage and activity of the device that the app is installed on.
As long as the child's phone is turned on, connected to the mobile network and location services are enabled, the parent will be able to receive an up-to-date location by using the Locate Me feature. In the Spacetalk app on the map screen, tap on the Spacetalk Reach App profile to reveal the pop up menu. Then tap 'Locate Me' and the Spacetalk app will start scanning for your child's current location.
In addition to this, the Spacetalk Reach App user can also send a live up-to-date location through to the parent's Spacetalk app by navigating to the map, and tapping on the 'Share my Location' button.
Parents using the Spacetalk app can share their location with the Spacetalk Reach App user. This is an optional toggle which can be enabled/disabled through the Edit Profile screen of the Spacetalk app.
When the location sharing option is toggled to on, the Spacetalk app will automatically send location updates to the Spacetalk Reach App. The minimum interval at which the Spacetalk App will send location updates is 15 minutes. The actual frequency of these location updates may be longer than this depending on the usage and activity of the device that the app is installed on. Please note: Spacetalk app can only send a location through to the Spacetalk Reach App if the phone is turned on and connected to a mobile network and location services are enabled.
Safe Zones are geo areas that are setup in the Spacetalk app. When the Spacetalk Reach App user arrives and leaves these pre-programmed zones, an optional notification will be sent to the Spacetalk app.
To set up a new safe zone, in the Spacetalk app, tap on the 'Safe Zones' icon on the map screen. Tap the purple '+' button and enter the address of the desired location. Once the Safe Zone has been created you will need to setup Safe Zone alerts. Note that for Safe Zones to work you must also enable automatic location updates for the Spacetalk Reach App.
To set up alerts for Safe Zones, in the Spacetalk app, tap on the 'Safe Zones' icon on the map screen. Tap on an existing Safe Zone and then tap on Manage Alerts. Multiple safe zone notifications can be configured and these can be customised to suit particular days.
With Spacetalk Reach App and the Spacetalk app, you can create a chat group to send messages to friends and family who are also using the Spacetalk app and devices. You can create one-to-one private chats, or chat groups.
In the Spacetalk app tap the 'Chat' symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen. Tap the purple New Message symbol. From here you will be able to invite a contact through email or by entering the persons Spacetalk ID.
Chat Contacts for the Spacetalk Reach App can only be managed in the Spacetalk App. To add a Chat Contact to the Spacetalk Reach App, first add it to the Spacetalk App user’s Chat Contacts.
Once this has been completed in the Spacetalk Reach App, tap on the Spacetalk Reach App profile on the map screen and then tap settings. Under 'Chat Contacts', tap on the plus symbol then select the contact you wish to add to your Spacetalk Reach App profile.
No. The Chat contacts and Phone contacts are a different set of contacts and need to be setup independently.
It is only possible for a Spacetalk Reach App profile to be paired to one primary account. However, it is possible to share access to the user with multiple trusted users.
To share a Spacetalk Reach App profile, please follow these steps:
Primary Account Holder
1. In the Spacetalk app, navigate to the home screen, tap on the profile you wish to share.
2. Scroll down under General to ‘Device Sharing’ then tap the purple ‘Share Device’ button.
3. Enter the email address of the person you wish to share the profile with.
Secondary Account Holder
1. Use the link in the invitation to download the Spacetalk app.
2. Open the app and create a new Spacetalk account. (Note: when creating your new Spacetalk app account, you must use the same email address the invitation has been sent to)
3. Once you have created a Spacetalk account and are logged in, tap on the 'Home' button. The request should appear under 'My Devices'
4. Tap on the request and it will allow you to Accept or Deny. Once accepted you will have shared access to that Spacetalk.
In the Spacetalk app, tap on the Spacetalk Reach App profile to revel the pop up menu. Tap on 'Settings' then 'Device Sharing'. You can manage permissions and remove shared access to the Reach App users profile from this menu.
In the Spacetalk app, tap on the Spacetalk Reach App profile to revel the pop up menu. Tap on 'Settings' then 'Device Sharing'. You can remove shared access to a particular Spacetalk Reach App profile watch from this menu.
