We all know how annoying it can be when your phone runs out of battery in the middle of the day, but when a flat battery stops parents from being able to contact their child, things can become much more serious.
At Spacetalk, our mission is to keep children safe and families connected.
This is why we have the most advanced battery management technology to ensure the chance of your child’s Spacetalk battery going flat while they’re not at home is minimal.
Here are a few tips to get the best battery performance.
1. Charging your Spacetalk every night is essential
Spacetalk is a smartphone, and like every other phone it’s essential that it is charged every night.
Get your kids in the habit of charging their watch every night – just like you do with your mobile phone.
Kids still learning how to be responsible for their Spacetalk may forget to charge their watch, but that’s ok! You can help kids set up a reminder to pop up on their watch every night to help them remember to charge it- genius!
2. Reduce location updates
Your child’s Spacetalk can automatically send you location updates at intervals of your choosing, from every five minutes to every hour. This is handy if you want to keep an eye on them while they’re out walking the dog or make sure they’ve made it to school on time.
Of course, the more frequently these updates are sent, the more battery the watch will use. The default setting for location updates is every 15 minutes, but for best results, we recommend switching this to the 1-hour setting or turning it off completely.
Regardless of what interval you choose, you’ll still be able to use Location on Demand at any time by tapping Locate Me on the Spacetalk app.
3. Dim the brightness
Is it me, or do kids always seem to have screen brightness turned up to eye watering levels?
Having the screen brightness up too high not only hurts your eyes, but also cause the battery to run out faster.
Lowering the brightness is a quick and easy way to make your battery last a little bit longer, so make sure kids know how to adjust the brightness themselves.
4. Update your software
Making sure Spacetalk Adventurer has the latest software update not only keeps all the features up to date, but also includes optimisation for other functions such as battery performance.
Spacetalk Adventurer will automatically update software when put on charge overnight, but you can also check for updates manually.
5. Turn on School Mode
Another helpful way to prolong battery life is to enable School Mode for set times during the day. School Mode turns off certain watch functions during school hours (or whichever hours you set up in the Spacetalk app).
This is good for two reasons, as turning these features off means kids can’t get distracted sending messages or taking photos in class, while also saving a bit of charge and extending your watch’s battery life.
We hope the above tips will help you get the most out of your Spacetalk Adventurer, wherever the day takes you and your family.
