A SIM plan is required for unlock the full functionality of your kids Spacetalk Smartwatch and connect to the Spacetalk App.

To unlock all the features of your Spacetalk smartwatch you’ll need to buy a wearable plan with a Nano SIM card that includes voice, SMS, and data. In New Zealand, Spacetalk Mobile plans are not yet available, you can simply use a compatible SIM from your local mobile provider.

Why The Sim is Important

The Spacetalk smartwatch relies on mobile network access for key features. Here’s what the SIM enables:

Two-way Voice calling & Secure Encrypted Chat

Trusted contacts can send and receive encrypted messages between you and other trusted contacts in your family profile. Prevent unwanted messages from strangers, and scammers. 

Live Location & 30 Days of Location History

View the last 30 days of locations, including the day and time visited. You’ll also be able to see when selected contacts are travelling and Safe Zones they entered or left.

Safe Zones and Alerts

Set up virtual boundaries on a map around locations like home, school, or a friend's house. Receive alerts when connections enter or leave designated areas. This way, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your loved ones are safe. 

What to Look for in a Wearable SIM Plan

Make sure it includes:

  • Good Network coverage
  • 4G/LTE network support
  • Voice, SMS, and mobile data
  • Nano SIM size (not micro or standard)
  • No call or text forwarding restrictions
  • No PIN code required at startup
Avoid plans that are:
  • Data-only or voice-only
  • Restricted to VoLTE-only calling (common in some budget or niche carriers)

How to Insert and Activate the SIM

Step-by-step Setup Guide

1. Power off the watch.

2. Insert the Nano SIM into the SIM tray on the side of the watch.

3. Power the watch back on.

4. Check for network signal and mobile data icon on the watch screen.

5. Open the Spacetalk App and begin setup.
